Do I qualify?
Generally, residents of our Section 8 apartments can earn no more than 80 percent of the Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) median family income for their community and household size. In most cases, Rhode Islanders in the Housing Choice Voucher Program can earn no more than 50 percent of HUD's median family income. The income restrictions vary by household size and the community in which the apartment is located. Median income levels are published by HUD and vary by location. If you are interested in finding out if you qualify for one of these programs, call us at 457-1234.
The Public Housing Authority (PHA) serving your community can provide you with the income limits for your area and family size. Rhode Island Housing serves as the PHA in many Rhode Island communities, including those that do not have their own. We have provided a list of PHAs and contacts for Rhode Island communities.
