Rhode Island Housing is currently looking for a Communications Assistant to work under the direction of the Public Information Manager to implement initiatives as they relate to various public relations, community outreach and communications plans. The overriding goal of this position is to ensure that the people of Rhode Island are aware of the services available to them and the importance of healthy, affordable homes in building strong communities and successful individuals. He/she will be responsible for executing day-to-day activities relating to Rhode Island Housing’s public information campaigns, using a variety of tools, including but not limited to special events, written and visual presentations (newsletters, PowerPoint) and email marketing.
Manage and maintain the company’s Internet and intranet pages. Work closely with division directors and communications department staff as well as with the outside agency/consultant to manage the daily implementation of the communications plan. Responsible for executing day-to-day activities relating to Rhode Island Housing’s public information campaigns, using a variety of tools including media events, email marketing and social media. Track, maintain and access incoming consumer visits to web and provide oversight of the contact management database and formulate procedures to ensure the integrity of the information contained therein. Organize and maintain the agency media and photography archive. Provide administrative support to the Public Information Manager as well as process all department invoices in a timely manner.
Minimum two years of experience in communications/marketing; strong writing, organizational and computer skills required. Must have excellent interpersonal and communications skills as well as demonstrated ability to work under deadlines, take initiative and drive projects to successful completion; comfortable with multi-tasking in fast-paced environment. Experience with MS Office platforms, including Excel and PowerPoint. Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications or related field required.
